I hear you! We have stopped doing shows because of promoters who claim to allow only artist in the booth made products, but always allow the 'buy and sell' vendors. We got a call last week wanting us to show at a show in South Lake Tahoe. We we told the show was exclusively artists selling their own products only. We said no thanks. We decided to go check it out and found 62% of the vendors were 'buy and sell'.
I don't know exactly what to do about the problem. It seems the promoters are only interested in how much they make. Seems to hurt the true artisans most of all. I know our decision to no longer do shows and focus our marketing through the internet and sales to jewelry stores has been a good one, especially since I really did not like the craft shows.
