Disclaimer: This post is meant to be humorous. No offense meant to anyone's religion or beliefs. All around Kansas City there are billboards with stuff like.. The End in near, Rapture ready and are you ready for judgment day? Me thinks this may be an excellent marketing ploy to unload tshirts that were bought for pennies on the dollar. And the St. Louis cardinals are in town for the weekend and even the Creator would know that is a game that would be hard to be pulled away from. (No pun intended) Needless to say I asked my friend, who is a much better person that I, what she was doing tonight at 7:00? She said I am going to be on my knees praying. Even though I am a smart a@@ I do not ridicule other's beliefs and I said well if that will give you comfort then do it:) She said what are you doing Sara? I said I am going to be sitting on the deck with a gin and tonic to sip on and a tablet and a pencil to make hash mark to keep count of how many I can see ascending..... And I am going to be wear those cute little red Valentino Jelly thong sandals I would never buy unless this was my last day on earth:) That way if I dont get to go.... yall will be able to identify me when I am a Zombie and instead of shooting me you can hand me a rock and that will stop me dead in my tracks. I did mention to my cats that they dont stand a chance in h@@@ of being taken and they better change their wicked ways cause I heard that cats are considered a delicacy to Zombies. My dog has a chance but since she still pees on floor when it is lightening outside I told her to get ready to spend eternity as an outside dog and maybe she ought to think about that. But in the immortal words of Charles Schultz.........
“Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today,” the late creator of Peanuts once said.
“It’s already tomorrow in Australia.”
Right Alan and Jenador? Yall are still out there?

Well the "end of the world" has been predicted how many times now? It hasn't happend yet. Those that keep predicting it forget the Biblical word. "No man knows the mind of God" (a paraphrase). We are not meant to know when. But to live our lives as if this is the day, every day. No intent to preach. But these guys pop up all the time & the end of time has been being expected for 2,000 years. Being a Californian & in earth quake territory. I figgure it'll happen when it happens & I'm not going to spend my time worrying about it. I'll be in Church tomorrow just like every Sunday. Being retired if it wasn't for going to Church on Sun. I'd never know what day it was LOL Mike

All TV seasons have ended,.... nothing but reruns from here,..... are you sure we haven't been left behind??? But,.... wait a second,... "American Idol" is basically finished too,....... ... could this be Paradise???? Here in Asia, I heard about the "Rapture" only by chance. People where much more into the 2000 computer bug and they rally look forward to Christmas next year. Whichever way, looks like its going to be a wonderful day today.

Well my day had an odd twist to it. A few days after my husband died 3 years ago, I lost my wedding ring. Looked down at my hand and it was gone. As hard as I looked, it was never to be found. Today, supposedly our last, I decided to defrost my upstairs, dorm sized fridge, as it was about 6 years overdue. Needless to say, the freezer was a solid iceberg from top to bottom. After about 4 hours of ice melting, I decided to check the progress. There hanging upside down in the middle of the ice, appeared my long lost wedding ring. At that point I had two thoughts, either it was indeed the end of the world, or it was an early birthday present. I chose to go with the second option! So, here we are, all alive to enjoy another day of slabbing , cabbing and jewelry making, and I now have my long lost ring back on my finger. Life is good!

Mike I'll bring the Marguritas!!!! as you may have read here, I have recently been found to have cancer in my throat. If you don't mind, would you tell me more (publicly or privately as you wish) on what you avoided and how you avoided it, cause really I would like to stay around for a while and make much more very nice jewelry. my wife prob would not run around nekkid - but I think it is a good idea, and if that's what it takes . . . I don't usually drink margaritas (or anything else alcoholic) but, again, if that is what it takes . . . . bring it on!

I made up my mind when I got throat cancer that I couldnt die. My youngest son was less than one year old and there would be no one I could trust to raise him. My family is not close and enough said about that. It scared me stupid to think I would die in a very short while Gregor. So I prayed and prayed and everyone I met I asked them to pray for me and I took natural herbs and everyday I told the Creator how thankful I was for another day. That was in 1995 and here I still am. I know my higher goal is not to aggravate the heck out of all of yall but then again perhaps it is:) I cant stand to see anyone suffering and I try to make their lives easier when I can. I believe in miracles:) That's the mystery of life for me. Believe,Pray, be thankful and help others:)

Well Gregor I had a heart attack. When your Dr. says "you've had a heart attack. You should be dead" it kind of gets your attention LOL But to make a long story short. It was so bad that I was a heart transplant candidate through UCLA Med Center. At one point I was 98lbs & couldn't walk 3 steps. I had spent 2 weeks in a med. induced comma fighting off pnumonia, kidney & liver shutt down etc. Durring that time my wife had at least 5 different churches praying for me. Now I don't wish to sound like a Bible thumper. That's not my way & I hadn't actually been much of a church goer for many many years. But my faith had not wavered & I had been asked about it while I was in the hospital. That was 2003. About a year later I found a church quite by accident & started going regularly (Native American United Methodist Church in Anaheim Ca.) Became quite involved in it mainly because of the people there. About another year later UCLA wanted to put in a different defibrolator/pacemaker. After haveing an echo cardiograhm. My Cardiollogist pronounced me cured. He said my heart had been healed. From an evection fraction of 13 (walking dead according to him) to within normal range. Below 40 is heart failure. He said there was no medical explaination. It was "A gift from God" (his words not mine). So I'll have to say that prayer certainly can't hurt. Does it always work? Well I can't say that. But if you believe there are things that can't be explained by "conventional wisdom". Personally I attributet it to pure unadulterated arneryness LOL I also believe in attitude being a big part of the healing process. I just "didn't have time to be sick" I kept busy found reasons to get up in the morrning & go outside & do things. I bought myself a 1976 Corvette that needed work. I believe that car helped save my life. I dove into working on it as a reason to get outside in the sunshine & do something. Rather than laying arround "being sick". Faith can give you strength to endure & prevail. I'm still quite involved in the Church. I'm the Lay Leader & the President of the Administrative Council & on several commities & have even served as interum pastor between perminant Pastors. So I'd say Faith, Prayer & a possitive attitude will go along way. Now I do anything I danged well please no limitations. Still have my original equipment heart & a love of the Lord. The choices are yours. Mike

Dear Gregor,
While not medically proven, most doctors, in private, will tell you that the body can and will heal itself from virtually every aliment known to man.
"we have nothing to fear, but fear itself", I don't know who said that, but I have come to understand that this is certainly true, yet not easy to overcome. The best medicine is always a positive outlook, and a Rock-solid belief will help it a long way.
Even if the time has come for us to go, there is so much more to be done. As Sara said, we need to enjoy every minute of it. Then as in Mikes case, days become months, years and decades. Even "walking death" means nothing when you do not give up living the life you enjoy.
Our prayers at this time, are with you Gregor.

Boy, I hoping to see angles assending on high but no such luck today! Just like our pastor quipped it just wasn't the day God had picked for the rupture of time. He will announce the end of time with the trumpet call and while my hearing is pretty bad I do think that is one trumpet call I could hear. Anyway it was still good to go to church today, rapture or no rapture.

I think it was franklin D. Roosevelt that said "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" as a part of his inaugural address. :)

Franklin D. Roosevelt Assuming the Presidency at the depth of the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt helped the American people regain faith in themselves. He brought hope as he promised prompt, vigorous action, and asserted in his Inaugural Address, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
