I wanted to ask everyone their opinion on cutting. I have this end piece which I was going to sell but was thinking of cutting it in the opposite direction to get an idea of how I should cut the other half of the rough which is a fairly big piece. Courtney and I absolutely love the picture now BUT not knowing is killling me. It's so funny how as you all know the picture changes dramatically when cut in the opposite direction. Then again the small piece is in fact small. I don't know if I could get a real feel for cutting it 90 degrees. http://www.flickr.com/photos/50579556@N06/5671679288/in/photostream

From looking at your photos I think it would pretty much look the same or pretty much that way if it was cut perpendicular to your current direction. But, then again I'm not as proficient in reading stones as I am in working silver.

If you rotate it 90 degrees on its flat axis there won't be much difference. If you rotate it where the top is facing the saw you will get some orbs but your yield will be low. Bob

I like Bob's idea too! Charlotte has been asking me to cut crazy lace that way, to get the orbs.
