I set up as a vendor at a show for the very first time last weekend. I must say that I had a blast and am very please on how I did. The Stoddard Wells show is a true " tailgate". There are no vendor fees nothing to sign, just show up . It is like a mini Quartzsite. Held in the middle of the desert near Victoville, CA. I would say there was more than 60 vendors and a ton of people showed up. I had such a good experience there that I plan on making this show every year.

Is there actually some sort of water or wells there?

No wells that I know of. Had to bring your own water. Went through 30 gallons.

Stoddard Wells is actually the name of the road that goes out into the desert.

Man that is out in the Boonies!  How did anyone ever get the crazy idea to start a rock show out there?  Anyways, sounds like you had a great time and it looks like a bunch of really good stuff.  I am totally jealous.

I am thinking that Quartzsite started up pretty much the same way.

If you hadn't said that it had been going  for many years, I would have guessed it was impromptu.  Does look like a lot of fun.

I think the old wagon road went through that area and it probably had a well or springs.  I lived not far from there and would ride my horses all over.  At every hilltop you could see green patches where springs/cotton wood trees were.  There is a marble quarry at top of that hill and another on back side.  As I understand, a member of the Victor Valley club owns the property where the show is and allows the free show.  He won't allow charges.  Friends did that show years ago and got all the vendors to kick in a small contribution toward the out houses/trash cans.  They had to return everyone's money.  Club told them the owner figured if it was free he would not be liable.  It is a great show if weather is nice.  We did our first show there.  $27 in sales, $300 in rock purchases.  I figured I'm a business genius.
