Hi All, this is my first attempt at setting a stone without a bezel wire. I think I want to learn wire wrapping. Does anyone have book recommendations?

Turned out excellent..
I like how you hammered the end of the prongs making them rounded.
Very nice !!

Nice piece. I like the little rounded fingers grasping the stone.
How about a pic of the back to?
also looking into wire for some pieces. what's the better choice for practicing? copper, brass, stainless? what gauge? I would rather practice with something cheaper but it should have similar characteristics for when I get real wire :)

Those rounded prongs go so well with the spots on the stone. Don't know if that is why you did that, but if not, it was a fortuitous action.

That's a nice piece. Learning wire wrapping isn't hard if you have the right teacher or tutorial. It just takes some practice. I started with silver wire but have used craft and copper for practicing. Look forward to seeing your results.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I dont have a pic of the back, and its not very nice to look at. To practice with think I would go with 16 or 18 ga copper.

Nice start Tom, I like the the way you pounded the prong tips. Very interesting indeed.
