We have a show in Graeagle, CA. First time we have done this show. Other people who have shown there say it is a really good show for venders. I will let you all know what happens.

Here is the report on the show. The weather was hot, 90 plus for both days. The visitor numbers were dismal, especially in the heat of the afternoon. Our sales were ok, but talking to many of the other vendors, their sales were rather poor. This show has a contract that states "Only handcrafted products made by the exhibitor will be allowed". However, the promoter did not enforce her contract which lead to many vendors asking her why 40% of the vendors were junk buy and sell. She said she would run the show however she wanted. I personally talked with over 30 vendors who said they would not exhibit with the promoter again.

So there you have it...

That really, really sucks..  That attitude will be directly related to vendors not showing for future events.  It will be their demise as far as the hand crafted vendors go..

Sorry to hear..

I don't know.....I did a 3 day show this last weekend. Open air, out in the sun and in the 90s. My knees look like tomatoes! I am okay with the hand-crafted only but.... I have the little bit of better quality junk at the end of the table that the kids and amazingly a lot of adults like. Anything to pay the overhead..... I go to shows that are hand made items only but there is always room for the low end jewelry. My weekend would have been just ok but Sunday morning a European lady showed up, sent her husband back to the car, gathered half a dozen pieces, asked me how much for the lot..........I told her 275.00, she offered 250.00 I accepted whereupon she removed everything from the box's shoved it in her purse and left me with a big smile! I still have the jewelry boxes....Bob

Gary,

Thats to bad for all parties, Management, vendors and customers. Ever give Sun Valley, Idaho arts festival any thought. I'm not sure of your location but this is absolutely an amazing place to visit. I would also be here to give you a hand, setting up and tearing down. Also be your personal tour guid. I was there all three days and was impressed with the foot traffic. I can't wait to start putting some pieces together and work the shows. I live in a resort destination community. There are always fresh faces coming threw here. My local farmers/artist market is only $25.00 per week. I see all kinds of potenial for this out of work tile setter. Plus the marketing factor for my small tile installing business. I'm rambling.

Gary,
Have you ever considered trying the many art and wine shows in the Bay Area? There is one nearly every weekend starting in early June and going through late September. They are very quality conscious and focus on high end crafts and jewelry. When we lived there we browsed almost every weekend and loved the goods that were offered. Generally, the customers are more affluent and will buy more expensive things. When we were there last Thursday we saw in the San Jose paper that real estate has gone up 24% this last year. Our daughter is loving it! She bought a fixer-upper (at $400,000!), did some updates and its now worth $560K. Elactronics and biotech are growing, too
