I was not sure were this should be posted.... A client of mine came in the store and wanted to I.D. some of her old family jewelry. We had a great time looking at the items. When we almost finished looking at over fifteen item, she pulled out one last item. It was a high grade, gold in quartz pendant. She said it was her aunts old pendant. Her aunt was from somplace in Colorado. Her aunts family was involved in some type of mining business. The pendant is 18kt yellow gold. The gold ore cab is flat with slight beveled edges. The flat cab is horizontally drilled through the center, so the cab spins. You can flip it over to see both side of the cab. The cab is polished on both sides. Thought I would share a unique old lapidary item with you all. Eric/Ajo

My work schedule has been crazy. My relatives are visiting now. The gem show was in town. Lets see what else......... It"s just been crazy busy. I have not even slabed or cabed anything in months. Hopefully things will be calming down in the next two weeks. I have been checking in now and then to see the fininished cabs, but have not posted. Eric/Ajo

Thanks for sharing this with us..

What an interesting idea to be able and flip the stone.. Great way to randomly show eitherside of such a nice stone.

Eric, so very neat. I love the feel and look at antiquated things.

Beautiful piece. They really used quality workmanship in the older pieces.

Eric
Very Victorian, My guess it was made in San Francisco circa 1853 -1904. Not at all uncommon to have the spinning feature. What is uncommon is there is no bezel around the stone and  it is drilled. Usually there are pins out of the bezel that act as axles.
This design was used in pendants but mostly watch fobs

I thought it was a neat fob. I have never seen one before. I was impressed how well it was put together. Eric.
