Lets see....how about a nice lavender jade. And any good solid agate would work - Lace agate would be beautiful.

I have a piece of leopard (sp?) jasper that is mostly pink or even some of the pink ocean jasper.

There are alot of other stones that would work up nice.

And the regency rose would be hard enough & beautiful also.

I have a nice slab of the lavender jade, and some unknown slab that looks like ocean jasper to me. It is a pastel pink and very pale green.  I think that is the one I will use.  All I have to do now is find the right knife.  I am excited to do this.  Today I was so bored.  I had about 20 preforms dopped and waiting to be worked on.  I started them around 2pm and I finished half of them.  I think I may have a sore arm and shoulder in the morning.  I am so out of practice.

LOL - if you're just wanting a nice hot pink, you could use Rhodonite for the handles.  It's not as delicate looking as Rhodocrosite, but it's definitely harder and more stable.

OK you guys.  When first this topic started, I loved the look of the knives but just kind of poo poed the idea ....for me.  Now, the more you all talk about it, the more interested I am in trying this, myself.  Darn this stuff is addictive.  Saw a real nice damascus knife that I'd like to try.....thanks to someones link.  Just may order it tonight.

Sara, my two knives are beautiful.  I found a slab of rhodonite and something Dave calls sow belly.  It is a pretty soft lavender.  I just love the rhodonite, it has the white streaks in it rather than the black.  I had wanted to make it myself but it has been crazy around the house.  It all started with this very small project to have the tile replaced it my bathrooms...... and Dave is not a patient person.  It has been like that movie years ago with Tom Hanks buying a house and starting improvements and the whole house falls apart.  Maybe it was a Chevy Chase movie.  Which ever movie it is, I would rather have watched it than lived it.
