The Genoa show has come and gone. It was the 89th year of the show. Here is what I observed.
1. The number of vendors were less.
2. The visitor count was way down from the last few years
3. After show vendor chats revolved around poor sales, with the exceptions below.
4. Saturday I couldn't give away our jewelry. Lots of really nice comments but few sales.
5. Sunday, out of pure frustration and as a joke for Rena, I took 14 of our higher prices pieces and added an additional zero. Nine of the joke priced pieces sold! And I took 11 additional special orders based on the joke prices. I later talked with some vendors who were only selling high prices products and they said the show was good for them. One fella talked about a 9,000 dollar painting that sold. The booth next to us only sold their higher priced products. My uneducated conclusion was people with lots money are still spending, especially if it is expensive. The average person has decided not to spend money. The show was a real eye opener!!

Gary, Your experience was rather enlightening it seems. My wife and I wandered all over the place on Saturday and I kept my eye out for your booth. We never spotted it, though. It was pretty hot and I went through a few (root)beers! Bob

That is really amazing !
It's funny, but not uncommon.. There is a valid buyer's niche that for what ever reason are more than comfortable with spending a ton of money on items.
Your experience is really interesting and certainly gives a lot to think about..
Congrats on the double zero sales !!
