Partook in a "By Invation" only show today at one of the local Military Bases. Nice crowd and plenty of looking but unless buying for themselves, guess not really starting the Holiday shopping yet. No finished jewelry of any kind sold, but some unmounted pendants, raw stones and faceted gemstone pendants of the birth-months and matching post earrings were seller. But we kind of took a backset to a vendor who had lab created faceted gems in rings, pendants, necklaces and earrings and finished gemstone pendants of all kinds from China, Thailand and India, who was selling finished pieces at 1/2 the price I can even buy the raw slabs to make pendants out of. He also had lots of finished sets out of Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Panama at extremely low prices. Although not making a killing he was doing much better than any of teh rest of us selling jewelry. Plus he had 10 tables to each of the rest of us having only one.
Well in two weeks the big Holiday Shows start, so I think that one will be the tell-tail sign for what will happen this season at all the rest we are scheduled to be at.

Competition from the international dealers can really hurt sales when as you said, they so undercut your prices that they are selling for way below your cost. This worries me all the time. I want to start selling, but know there is no way to compete with them. I just hope that I can offer enough high quality items, that i can attract buyers who are looking for quality and not just low price.

Mark, we try to find shows that only allow vendors to sell products that are made by the vendor. It is hard to compete with people who import all of their products and can sell them so cheap. I find most of our clients are people who truly want a one-of-a-kind item. A week from today we set up for the Genoa Candy Dance. I have my finger crossed!!!!

Genoa Candy Dance?
Yes, that is the show. Set up is Friday and so far I think the weather will be great for the event.
