This is mostly for Mick, as he'll enjoy it. I went insane and bought another piece of jade the other day. I think it's Cassiar Mountain nephrite (the label says  _____? Mtn) and was collected in or before October 1972 per the label. The color and translucency is exceptional and is relatively (as most jade has some inclusions in the rind area) inclusion free. I would say easily 2/3 to 3/4 has no inclusions.

I needed it like I need another hole in my head, but you don't see this quality very often.

Debbie

If I do anything with it, it'll probably be carved so the blocking isn't so important. I'll have to think of something really special before I cut into this one.

This piece is exceptional because of the bright green color and the glow. You can see how easily the light penetrates it on the edges.

The good thing about having a really nice piece like this is it frees me up to do things with the things that aren't as good. I can quit being so much of a scaredy-cat.

Drooling, thanks for sharing this great piece, I do have a large block of my Tamworth nephrite that is a darker blue green but it has more iron spots, has what some carvers call rivers of lighter colors, I have quite a bit of BC and Yukon, the Yukon has huge amounts of chrome, I started carving a piece a few months back, its more opaque than the BC, I have no dought you will turn this block into a masterpiece.

Nice looking jade Debbie, def looks like BC nephrite and Cassiar is possible. I have found some of the BC jade very directional, the exception being high grade Cassiar which is a dream to carve.
