Finished a larger 3" cab from a picture slab of Siam Siding Ca, Chapenite.

Some of the slabs are scenic like this one, some brecciated, and some heavier with dendritic.

Good looking cab.

Is that a doublet?  What do you use for your back...if it is?

I have to add some backing to thicken up the preform.  It is large, so managing a low dome across it and still being able to end up with a decent girdle for bezel setting requires a little extra meat be added.

Another brecciated piece at 2 5/8 " .

I think this is the largest cab I have ever done. But was necessary so as to get the most brecciated patterns out of an area of a slab.

Another fantastic cab George...and big too.  A little over a couple inches is about as big as I've ever gone.  Any chance we could get another shot next to a coin for reference??
