Killer Cabochon Contest Entries For April 2016

For new members not familiar with how these contests work:
Entries are cabochons only and must be completed during the contest period. No cabs pulled from a drawer please.
Try to include a picture of the original slab, preform and the finished cabochon so we can see what your vision for the finished stone was from start to finish.
Be sure to tell us about the stone, what you liked about it, how it worked up and anything else you experienced while creating your entry for this contest.
You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral.
Please note that intarsia, finished jewelry, carvings and composite type cabs can not be entered in this contest.
Join in and have some fun! This is a friendly competition between peers. Winners may or may not receive a prize for their efforts.
Cabs posted here are only for the contest. One entry per member.

Is everyone tuckered out from last month?
Here's one to get us started. Gem Dinosaur bone from Utah. This is the first Dino bone I've worked with. The agatized cells are fascinating - particularly when viewed under a microscope. They show a full range of formations and inclusions.
This cab is untreated and unstabilized. While trimming this thin ~5mm slab I learned that the black webbing can cause breakage fairly easily. This was originally going to be a crescent - before a corner broke off, steering me to this freeform shape. I was gentle throughout the rest of the process and it worked up fine. The black webbing undercuts a bit - I'm sure someone with more polishing skills than I could minimize this even further - but to me it's not bad at all.
Hope you like it!

Here we go! Yellow Feather Jasper. I cut several different rocks until I came across this one with multiple colors. Ended up with ten slabs great looking.
Most of my yellow feather is yellow or orange first one I've had mixed!
