Hi All

I am in with another piece of Charoite. This is a 30 x 40 out of the center of the first slab. Spring is here and this might be my last cab until it gets cold again. I am working on my picture taking in hopes that I can show what I see.

Cool, I love Charolite. I have a slab I bought recently, I think you have inspired me to cut it.
my wife loves anything purple, charolite, sugilite, purple jade, purple opal. Maybe she just likes spending my money.

Well, actually remembered to take pictures as I cabbed. This is a piece of self collected, agatized petrified wood. It came from South Central Texas.

Back to cabbing.. had a load of renaissance venues and an interesting time at an anime convention, but I fired up my machines this month to get something done finally. We will be moving soon, finally a house with a garage... now I won't have two workshoppes. But I grabbed a piece of agate from the top of my piles and decided to slab it for this months entry. Unknown what the material is, aside from moss agate... I liked the earthy tones of it. Standard agate to slab and polish... I liked this slice cause it was just on the edge of the wall, so I liked the depth perception it picked up.

Okay...I guess it's not too late!!

This is from some of what I think they call midnight lace obsidian.  I bought a bunch of rough on eBay a few months back and sliced it up with my slab saw.  I forgot to get a photo of the original slab, but I have several photos along the way.  In the 'conglomeration' photo there is also a image showing the back of the piece.  I did not kill myself on the finish on the back and as you know polishing flat surfaces is not the easiest, but I do want to set the stone with an open back so the future owner can truely appreciate the translucent and really amazing beauty of the stone.

Was really happy about the way the final piece turned out I hope you are too....vote for me!!

Great group of cabs this month!

I'm adding a cab of Owyhee Deer Sky jasper I cut from a box of rough I got from Neal a while ago. Finally got around to slabbing it up and this is the first stone I've cut from it. This one caught my eye because of the combination of blue orby swirls mixed with the contrasty brown markings. I had to work around the nearby ancient fracture that was to thank for the nice pattern. I chose a shape that combined both curves and angles to complement the stone. The material worked up great and took a killer polish.

Thanks!

-Jeremy
