I've had an old ST-10 for about a year now. Great little saw - I replaced the bearings, rewired it, and it's rewarded me with many many slabs. It truly cuts above its 10" weight.

There's one thing I don't love about it - changing the oil. The process goes like this: Remove the top-mounted motor, unscrew the base, LIFT the entire housing, cairrage, arbor assembly off the base (50 awkward pounds), rotate while holding it and stoop down to place it on a drop cloth on the floor. Then, I clean out the base and repeat the process in reverse. One of these days I'm going to throw out my back hefting this machine. Is there an easier way?

Thanks!

There is an older post by Tony Funk about how to build a sucker upper with a shop vac. And it works! You still have clean out the sludge with a 6" putty knife.
