setting a stone directly into another is it done
would it be better to set in silver bezel 1st
Im thinking of setting an opal cab  in a piece of jade
my idea is grinding a small area size of opal and up to girdle deep
using 330 epoxy

I have done it with and without a silver bezel. Both ways work. I still use Rio Grande grind able epoxy. A couple thoughts........Be careful to not cut the inset hole too deep. Slightly bevel the bottom of the hole away from the stone and cut a tight fit. The hole can be enlarged to fit easier.
