Testing to destruction - 100% Natural Green Hetian Nephrite Jade Bangle Bracelet "Handmade" A Grade

Now this one is so blatantly fraud that for the 1st time I am pursing a claim through Ebay and PayPal.   But I will elaborate on that a bit further into this test.

This first photo shows the "Natural A grade Jade" as it came from China and with a light through the piece.  It was very obviously even colored but had no seams and did appear to have been sanded and polished.  Using a 10X loupe I could see sanding marks and some texture which leads to my determination of the piece being sanded and polished - probably to get rid of a casting line.

Also one picture shows the MOHS test pick scratch from a freshly sharpened 5 MOHS pick.  The five pick did not scratch it until I put a fresh edge onto it as it took a 6 MOHS pick to initially scratch it.  The more clear scratch is from the 6MOHS pick.

To be certain I was right about the piece being Glass I used my trusty torch and these pictures are from that part of the test.

The test ended quickly with a very light tap from my 4 ounce peining hammer.

Well, I would hope that they just run them off E-Bay and it will be money well spent. We could even pass the hat and cover your expenses in these worthwhile tests. Good Job....  and thanks

Next you could look at, not buy, the $5,000 Heitian Jade on Etsy. The shop also sells stuff for $6. All lab tested of course. You will know the shop when you search for Heitian Jade and see the multi-thousand dollar carved stones.

Here is a seller I dealt with a few months back.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/12CT-AAA-Grade-Deep-Blue-Aquamarine-925-Solid-Genuine-Sterling-Silver-Pendant-/291656004419?hash=item43e80d7343:g:y-4AAOSwLN5WkHky
Virtually everything this seller has is total fake including both stones and metal.  Ebay doesn't care.  Their policy only covers returns.

slaqbbercabber -  That seller would be difficult to tackle.  Most of his descriptions such as "amethyst" are also recognized as colors by encyclopedia's.  Even the opals being referred to as Australian are difficult to challenge as synthetic opals are sold in Australia.  Even the stones that are not usually described as a color are made synthetically at very low cost.   The seller is very careful in almost every listing to never claim it is a certified natural stone.

Good luck Michael, you can point out to the seller that jade should easily deal with a MOH's 6 point, a little heat, and a gentle tap..  dancer5

you should repost it for sale with a description and price that will ensure it comes up at the top of the list; including pictures of course :)

What about the rutilated quartz? That seller lists the main stone as quartz. It looks funny to me, but maybe it is a doublet with a thin layer of actual rutilated quartz? Either that or it is just faked somehow?
