Yep, rain, sleet or snow, had to go. Went out McBride Road and headed into the Owyhee Mountains for some jasper. The pictures tell the weather but it will be a few days before I get photos of the rock I collected. It was 11 degrees when I lit my ceremonial fire with sage brush and willows. Then I watched the sun come up. With 24 degrees, bright sunshine and no wind it was great. I concentrated on some old rockslides on a hillside with little snow. I was not picky, just tossed anything that looked like jasper into the buckets.  Great way to finish out my year.  Pictures soon after I clean the rock and sort off the junk.

PS;  It is much easier to keep warm than to dig in 100 degree heat. No snakes, spiders or scorpions either. No noise just the melody of a few birds.

Happy New Year,  Neal

I guess this is the new test for are you a rock hound. Most of the people I know who are not rock hounds think it is not crazy, but stupid to go out in this weather. Of course it is crazy. I will post some photos of rough in a little while. I did slice two pieces and will try to get them  up in a week or so. Back to the day job tomorrow.... but only for two more months.....

Glad you got to get out there, looks like the sun melted enough snow so the rocks were exposed ... nice! Thanks for the pix!
