Attention Phoenix, AZ rockhounds

I'm off work from now until January 4, 2016... WOOO HOOOO!!!
Along with all the cutting and polishing I plan to do, I want to spend at least two days in the desert collecting. I'm thinking of a day trip to Burro Creek and was wondering if anyone in the Phoenix metro area would be interested in going with on the adventure? I'm flexible on which day to go, and have room for a couple passengers in the Land Cruiser if you don't have your own truck.
PM me if interested.

Well, I didn't get any takers to go with, but I went anyway. Just a word of warning for anyone going in from the Nothing side... the last half mile of the road has gotten hella-eroded. If you take the sedan, you'll be doing a lot of walking.
BC never disappoints on the collecting aspect though.

Good for you. Glad to see you got some stuff you liked. Doesn't always work out that way. We went on a club field trip last month that wasn't all we hoped it would be.

Wow........nice rocks and some sun....nothing like that here in NYC. Just a stupid ball dropping down tonite, they could have at least used a big agate boulder
Happy rock hunting in '16

If anyone is interested, I want to make an assault on the old McCracken silver mine before the desert heats up this year. It's northwest of Wickenburg about 70 miles (25 on unknown dirt road). There's two collecting sites out there with promises of agate and other interesting gather-ables. Certainly a full day of fun for kindred purveyors of the wild stone! Lemme know.

That could be interesting! What main roads would you start on to get to that area?

It's the other side of Highway 93 from Burro Creek, the turn off is 17-mile road shortly before the Burro Creek bridge, heading west. I've navigated the road via Google Earth and it doesn't look too bad.

Thanks. We'd drive down through Congress to 93, so we'd have to meet up somewhere.

That's cool! We could meet at Nothing. Let me know if you have a preferred weekend, otherwise I'll give you heads up the week before I go.

Well then, if going to Nothing it would be goofy for us to drive through Congress to 93. We could just take the road to Bagdad over to 97.
Club meetings are 1st Saturday of each month. Any other weekends should be good. Robin says it sounds like a fun trip, so just PM us here, or email as far in advance as possible so we don't plan anything else at the same time.
