How is Diopside for cabbing?

When I see translucent/transparent stones I am always thinking
it will be more fragile that opaque minerals?

Fracture easy?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks,

James

I've seen some beautiful faceted diopside. With a hardness of around a 6, or less, it's not hard enough for a ring. Would be great for a pendant or earrings.

I have cut many hundreds of diopsides and I consider it fool proof. Never have a problem with it.On the other hand I have never faceted it  and big table facets on  faceting machines can be a bear but I love cabbing it.

Thanks!

Not into faceting, just cabs, so may give it a try.
