Massachusetts is a bit lame when it comes to collecting stone compared to many states, especially western states.  As far a i know, there are not many lapidary type stones to be found in MA.  There are a few specimen type stones like Garnets and Beryl.  Goshenite, a type of Beryl, is found in MA and i think it is actually the type locality.  A more productive trip would be to New Hampshire or Maine, both of which have a lot more collectible specimen stones.
