Hi!

I have ben playing around with my Ameritool grinder/polisher and getting frustrated
at the water outlet cup. It fills up to quick so I want to attach plastic tubing and run it into
a bucket under my table.

Can anyone tell me what size tubing would fit snug and not leak?

Thanks,

James

Not familiar with the Ameritool machine, but measure the outside of your drain. Any hardware store should have plastic tubing to fit it. Look for a size slightly smaller. Heat the end of the tubing in boiling water to soften it. Slip it on your outlet tube. As it cools, it will shrink slightly, giving you a tight leakproof fit.

There won't be any pressure so snug fit should work.  Seems like the stub is 1/2" but I'll contact Ameritool and ask.

James, Ameritool says "approximately 3/8".  They also warned to not allow drain hose to clog or kink.  They have had motors ruined by clogged drains allowing water to overfill sump and penetrate motor.  I've heard two "screamers" over the years at shows that got water in the motors and damaged bearings.  The hose is a good idea though, just make sure if water is coming in it also needs to go out.  I think any of the clear or Tygon type vinyl hose sold by the foot at hardware stores would work fine.  A hose clamp could be used if needed to secure but snug fit should work.

I will get clear tubing for sure so I can see the water coming through.

Sorry, so that would be 3/8" inside diameter. Correct?

Yes.  Measure the tube outside to be sure.

Got the tubing from Amazon. Fits perfect.

This is what I got:

Watts SVIG10 Pre-Cut 1/2-Inch Diameter by 3/8-Inch Clear Vinyl Tubing

(3/8" inside diameter, 1/2" outside diameter)

Plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride has the flexibility of rubber and the clarity of glass. The smooth dense bore maximizes flow and reduces sediment buildup, and handles a wide variety of chemicals, gases and liquids. It is resistant to acids, alkalis and many solvents which makes this tubing an excellent drainage line. It is also certified to NSF 61 section 9 Clean Drinking Water standard.

Posting this here for anyone else who needs to know the tubing size.
