Howdy,,,,,,,I have been looking for a smaller cab machine for the last year or so and stumbled upon an almost new Ringleader the other day. The pump does not work and seems to be vapor locking or something. Has anyone had any experience with this particular bugger? Is there an easy fix? I tried it out and it has an aggressive 100 grit hard wheel, a 180 ripple disk, a 600 grit hard wheel, 3 diamond pads on flex disks and a polish pad on a flex disk. The ripple disk is pretty agressive but I really don't like it. and all of the diamond and polishing pads could be a potential PITA. So I ordered a 6x2.5 expando and set of Diamond belts for it. I will install the expando where the 600 hard wheel now resides. If needs be I can use the 220 hard wheel on my 8" machine. Thats the plan anyway.Has anyone worked with a Crystalite cab machine before? Any hints, tips or practical advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks............ Bob

Hi Bob!

I have an old Crystalite Ringleader. You may need to replace the pump if it's not working. An aquarium or small fountain pump should work fine. If the lines are clogged, you have a different problem on your hands. They are a real pain to remove and or replace. Depends on how mechanical you are. I finally got so frustrated with mine that I got a new Genie. Mine now sits on a shelf.

Thanks for the reply trigon......The pump turned out to be an easy fix. It is a simple pump with no gaskets or O-rings I took it apart and blue gooed the machined surface where the impeller housing fits up to the motor housing and blew out the lines. Works great. The expando took a little engineering. It is a tight fit but just enough room to change the belts. I had to elongate the holes in the water spreader so the belts would fit on and off. I left the ripple disk on and use it for shaping on the not so fracture prone rock. Bought some PSA silicon carbide discs for 3 of the flex discs and new leather for 1. I am a little surprised that I use it so much. It works pretty darn good. Making some Coprolite cabs this morning. I still haven't replaced the broken drain plug. :)

Thanks Don............I hadn't seen this before. I got mine for 250.00,  at auction, barely used with all of the listed accessories including a jar full of the  crystal-cut rust inhibitor. There was a couple half shaped cabs in the bottom of the box. I assume the learning curve may have been too much for the previous owner.

If yours is sitting on the shelf and its for sale I have an interest. daniel@stonebeads.com

All my best ...... Danny
