Hope you are planning on having the exhaust go outside. If not you do want to be using a hepa filter.
Remember the smaller the particles the worst they are for you, and the longer they stay in the air. And if you do exhaust outside not sure you need much of a filter as you are grinding rock not grinding precious metal.

The bench will be on lockable wheels so it can be moved outside for really dusty jobs, and I will be using a good dust mask. Much fossil prep is done with an air scribe. It produces mostly large particles which shouldn't float on the air. Any grinding will be done with diamond bits in water, so shouldn't be a major problem. The only thing that worries me where dust is concerned will be the soda blasting. It will produce very fine dust particles.

WOO HOO  . My foot pedal will be here this afternoon. Just ordered the 1/8" barbed fittings and a dozen mini hose clamps. I'll soon be able to try everything out. I'll report on how the foot pedal works. |

That perforated top sounds like a terrific idea. If you go with a back fan, you will want to consider a linear draft system. Can't remember what it is called just now, but basically a 2 inch tall filter will draw air over the work as opposed to a large area and low velocity.
