Hi everyone,

I have been told this is an agate in its whole state. It weighs about 5 lbs. On one hand I'm really dying to know whats on the inside ever since I got my new saw. However on the other hand I feel as though I should leave it whole. What would you do if it were yours?

Oh dear, my curiosity would drive me nuts if I didn't cut it. If you cut it in half, you can still display the outside of the half.

Another option would be to polish a window on one side. You'll be able to take a peek inside without cutting.

I'm a cutter.  I just can't resit opening every rock I find. On rare occasions I wish I hadn't, but most times it pays off...or at least satisfies my curiosity with no regrets.

If the inside looks anywhere as nice as the outside, it would be a shame not to see it.

all of those marks on the outside are little impact fractures that will leave there mark well into the stone. Just polishing a window will not get you past those.
