It's obvious some of the members don't have a liking of masks(respirators).

I have a problem using it too. It's obviously not comfortable, nor as nice as smelling burning jade, but please wear it. And work with water, please. You may wear a mask, and dry grinding may be faster, but your family doesn't wear masks. And the dust can get kicked up.

Statistics in google scholar articles don't say it as well as this piece does. One in three contract silicosis and will most likely die from it.

Silicosis is one of those deaths that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.  It's probably one of the most debilitating diseases you can contract.
I agree, wear your mask and grind wet.

On a related note I heard from my Mother-in-law this morning.  My Father-in-law who is a hobby woodworker has been banned from his workshop by his Doctor till his pneumonia clears up.  Turns out he hasn't been wearing a mask like he should be.  I told my Mother-in-law in an email back that he needs to be wearing a dust mask at all times in his shop, especially now that he is showing susceptibility to pneumonia.  At 77 years old he can't be gambling with his health.
