Got this small rough at a gem fest.
I like the pattern and as a sucker for translucent stone, i take it
Someone in a gemfest said that he already thinking of buying it but reluctant to go cos a white cloud inclusion in it. He said if only it is a clear light green rough, he will buy it
My answer :
a) if its a pure light green it is not unique and quite boring to me
b) if its a pure light green, you and me probably cannot afford it lol

Sidelit

Just for fun, what is your wild guess of the stone ID ?

Regards..

I'm with you on the "clear" part. I'm the same way as far as Turquoise. "Clear" is boring you might as well have glass. My guess is it might be some form of jade/jadite? Or maybe Chrysopraise? Looks kind of like some I have.

Yes, its ok to have 1 or 2 even 3 clear same color stone, but if you have many of the same color, unless you intend to sell it then it is not even funny lol
Chrysoprase and jade whether jadeite or nephrite is unlikely..
Chrysopal or prase opal would be much closer guess i think ..

It looks like mycrite a form of chalcedony similar to crysopraise, but colored by  chromium instead of nickel.  Since chromium is the element that gives emerald its color I have taken to calling mine  emerald chalcedony.  My mycrite/emerald chalcedony comes from Zimbabwe but there are other locations as well.  I purchased mine for 20 a kilo wholesale with retail being 30 to 45 a kilo. I believe that mycrite/emerald chalcedony shall continue to go up in price until it reaches  crysopraise price levels.

Make up some cabs to show what it looks like finished, that will show it's true beauty or lack thereof better than anything.
