You sure do come up with some neat designs. I recognize the powder finish but how did you pattern the first one? Thanks for shareing.
RickN
There is no powder application on either, both were textured with a Dremel engraver.................Tedious, but it works great...........you can basically design your texturing by how you apply it...........

Great designs and great work. That wire border on the outside of the Sodalite looks like a bugger to fit and solder! Your productivity is amazing.

I've got a couple of ordered pieces to add............. 1st is the Synthetic Ruby Ring I entered into the KJC..............Used two different gallery bezels to complete this one........ And yes Kurt I do do bracelets..............mostly the cuff style. This one is a sterling cuff with an inset brass lightning bolt for a 'Dead Head'......................

I still melt gallery on occasion.........It's usually when I'm not paying attention 100% on the task at hand. I throttle the flame on my torch back and keep it moving over the area to be soldered. When doing overlay (ring shank) I try to keep the gallery flat to the under sheet so it absorbs heat as a unit rather than individually.............And lastly, I use 'easy' or 'super easy' solder when constructing items like the ring.............pre-soldering the gallery's back a bit.

Thanks for the info Steve. I didn't know they made and super easy. I'll have to get some. I have even thought about using some preforated stainless steel sheeting on 12" high legs so I could heat from below instead from the top when I used the gallery wire. I still might it a try.
The last tme I did any silver soldering I used cupronil flux to reduce firescale. For some reason I melted down more silver than I had in the past year. Do you use or have you tried it? I had little to no firescale though.

There is a woven steel screen commercially made for what you are talking about. I've used it mounted on the edge of two fire bricks to heat from the bottom............... Here is a tripod for doing that kind of soldering: http://www.thunderbirdsupply.com/proddetail.aspx?stockNum=723016Here is the Mesh Screen: http://www.thunderbirdsupply.com/proddetail.aspx?StockNum=723015If I remember it is 56% silver in the super easy. The only time I use Cupronil is when I am building a belt buckle and I use it in conjunction with Handy Flux. For me it seems to work well at high temps on large pieces.

I'm doing a little 'horse' trading with these. They are hand carved pipestone scarabs for a 5/8" diameter ear plugs in trade for a Boston Bruins Hockey Jersey...............What a deal...............

Love that ruby ring! The bracelet is to die for! Hey Steve, why don't you come down to Key Largo & give me a couple of lessons!!!! I checked out the Albuquerque street map and couldn't find the place.................... ... I've been thinking about this cuff bracelet for a while now and finally decided to get a move on.............. It's made from a double strand copper, sterling 1/2 round wire and 20g sterling sheet. The copper was hand twisted from 14g wire and hand flattened. Times like these I wish I had a roller because it's hard getting a uniform width while pounding with a ball-peen hammer. I came pretty close though, except towards the ends.............
