It was cool enough to get to the garage today so I mounted eleven cabs with the simple prong mountings of 14 gauge Argentium silver.

My Favorite is the one in the center.  It just seems to glow with an inner light and that fascinates me.  The simple Argentium settings really let the stone shine through and stand on it's own.   yes

Absolutely agree with Amanda. That one is absolutely subherb. eyes1

Not only is it a cab that draws you right into it, it is also set in such a subtle way that I could not imagine a better fit.  yes hatsoff

Thank goodness you choose the other set for the KJC. With this one you would have again a runaway victory.  saved2

You're correct, South Carolina petrified palm to be exact. I traded for a 8lb to 10lb piece of rough 40 years ago at Spruce Pines, NC and slabed it up recently. I really didn't think it was a very good piece of rough and I recently saw Adrian's intarsia with pet palm and fire agate results. I though I'd give my rough a try on the slab saw. Adrain's  was more white in color than mine. It is hard and takes a great polish.

Don, is the one on the bottom left Phrenite?    Great shapes and I do love the simple mounts.  Iv'e seen them done where the prongs look to large, yours are perfect to me.

It is Phrenite and the one on the right is Rhodonite. I received both in a partial from MickB. The Phrenite has much more limegreen color than the camera picked up.

Thanks for the comments on the mounts. I came up using them around 3 to 4 years ago. I use them very often as they are fabricated quckly and show the cabs off without being overdone.
