Don't count me out.
I'm not "gone."
I'm just not around much.

I see a new doctor tomorrow, an immunologist.  The leading theory right now is my condition is an auto-immune disorder.  I'm crossing my fingers that this man, Dr. Erdos who is one of the top immunologists in Arizona, can have an answer for me - with a lasting fix.

I finally got the packages out in the mail today.  Please check your PM's for tracking numbers.
Thank you for your patience.
18  The Gathering / Contests and Competitions / Patience please on: March 28, 2015, 10:42:20 am
I love y'all.

I have had some messages appear regarding why people haven't received prizes yet.  My past few months have been hell, and that's being polite about it.

I will TRY to get those packages out this week.

We thought we had my health problems straightened out with a new diet, however that seems to have been short lived.  I'm back to square one and want to just simply cry every day because it is so frustrating when you want to get out and do things and you cannot even leave the house at times for fear of not being near a bathroom when you need it.

Then there is the mess with my Aunt, who died three weeks ago, and my poor Uncle who is trying to pick up the pieces.  Since I'm really the closest thing to family he has down here in this area I've been thrust into the middle of things.  I'm doing what I can for him within what I'm allowed to do.  I have no POA for him and I'm technically not his blood relation.  His son who is his POA and lives back east seems to want nothing to do with helping his Father.  This has left me to carry a bit of a stress load.

Add onto this that Social Security screwed up and my Uncle is in quite a bind.  He did the right thing and the day after my Aunt died, he called Social Security to report her death and have her checks stopped.  Well two days later money hits his bank account, he thinks it's his check (He's 73) and so he pays bills.  It's still not enough of course because he is almost two months behind on his mortgage and his car payment as well due to the mountain of medical bills from my Aunt.  Well earlier this past week Social security deposited cash into his account.  He's not completely lucid enough at times to realize two social security checks in a month spells a problem and a mistake someplace.  So he went and used the money on more bills.  Thursday he goes to the gas station to get gas in his car and finds his card declined.  Puzzled he goes to his bank and he is informed his account was frozen due to Social Security wanting their money back.  So he treks up to the Social security office in Phoenix to figure out the problem.  They inform him that they froze it to get back my Aunt's Social security that they screwed up on and put into his account.  And that they cannot unfreeze that account till the money is recovered.  They also said they could not help him in any way till his phone meeting with them on the 7th of April.  So he has a bank account that is frozen at least for a minimum of two weeks with no access to money to get gas, food or pay bills.

It's not like he can go out and get a job either.  He's just not all there upstairs mentally.  I blame it on normal aging and the stress of taking care of my Aunt all those years.  Peter and I are doing our best to help him any way we can.  Tomorrow I'm taking him food and a gift card to a local grocery store that also has a gas station at it so he can use the gift card for both food and gas.  If I had a POA I'd call Social Security myself and raise some hell.  I can understand them wanting their money back, but cripes he did the right thing and reported her death and they screwed up and paid out the cash when they shouldn't have and now he has to suffer for it?

So sorry folks, things are in an uproar here.  I will try very very hard to get the two packages out this week.  Please be patient with me.  This is why I stopped doing the contests because I could see these problems coming and I didn't want pissed off forum members.

Thank you.

Thank you.
My Aunt went to be with G-d at 3AM yesterday morning.  She is now at peace and no longer suffering.

Thank you Don.... You rock:)

My Sentiments exactly.
Thank you Don!  I felt so bad giving up on the contests but I don't feel I can give things the time they deserve right now.   Thank you for grabbing the banner and running with it.
I'll pin this topic now so folks won't lose it.  Contact George so he can give you mod powers for this forum section.

When the voting is done on the current contest we just finished, I will be mailing out the last of the slabs we have from Tony (Catmandew) that were purchased and donated for the contests.

I've had a lot going on in my life and as you all well know I resigned as admin last summer.  So far things haven't really gotten much better in my life and my Aunt who is dying of cancer is now in her final days/weeks.

All this said I am no longer going to be holding The Monthly Cab contests.  If someone else wants to raise the banner and continue with them, you have my blessings.

Smoke scented Magazines:
Put into large ziplock bags with a generous amount of baking soda.  Allow to sit for a few weeks, discard baking soda.
OR
Place in an airy open place like a garage and allow to air out for several weeks and it won't cure it completely but will help.

Find Air freshener called Ozium.  It takes odors out of anything.  We used it to take marijuana odors out of a garage after the person we were caring for who was on medical marijuana went nutty up in WA and ended up in the institution.

1) Don't smash with a hammer!  That is killer moss, a hammer and that in the same equation makes me cringe!
2) Check in with Tony (Catmandew)  I know in the past he would slab for a fee.  He isn't close though unless you live near him in Idaho.
3) Check with a local rock club.  Someone is going to have something.
4) Check any local places that slice up rock for countertops.  They might slice this for you for a small fee.  Stone masons might also have saws that could cut this.
28  The Gathering / Our Place / Re: Glacier Calving.... Awesome on: February 19, 2015, 07:45:23 pm
Glaciers are beautiful.  The process of calving of course is amazing to watch and astounding in it's scale.  It definitely can leave one feeling small and insignificant in the midst of natures wonders.

This is why I love my one acre patch of land out here in AZ.  I'm not in congested suburbia.  I have neighbors with horses and goats.  I don't have people telling me what I can or cannot plant in my yard.  Life is good.   yes
