That's really nice. I live next to the dunes, a bit north of Haarlem so I'm very familiar. How did you like it?

Hi Charles! I live about 30 minutes west of Amsterdam

Hi all! I am just getting started with metalsmithing - I'm in my 2nd class and have made some headway in getting my home workbench in order. I find that I have so many questions so I'm always Google searching - and I keep landing back on this forum. Seeing how supportive and informative it is, I decided to join! I'd love to network with people in the lapidary and smithing community and am looking forward to getting to know you!

Some issues that I struggle with: I'm American and my Dutch is not great, so I often do a lot of my searching in English. I then find myself with issues when it comes to purchasing supplies here locally (since buying from Rio Grande isn't an option for me here with customs and 20% VAT!) and I'm also struggling with finding nice stones over here, so I do most of my buying via Etsy from sellers in the US. I'm sure that is not really the way to go but that's where I'm at right now. :)

I've attached the cabs I've purchased so far. It can become addictive. Even though I have yet to make something with these, I spend a lot of time looking for new stones online.

I've also attached the ring I'm working on right now. I can't decide how to position it, but so far I haven't done anything terrible so that's a plus :)
