I cut the first cab out of material I mined out of the North Cady Mountains in California. It was named Top Notch Agate by the discoverer because the vein was found at the top notch of the mountain :)

I started my whole hobby with 3 of these types of opal jars. If you are careful you should be able to get many cabs out of a jar. You will have to study each piece to see how to cut it effectively to get a stone out of it, but with careful thought you should do well.

I had a product fail, I called their 800 number MAD AND BOTHERED! The person who answered was kind and courteous, they let me explain the issue with the utmost patients. From what I understand, the Leather's Ranch Plume Agate deposit was somewhere in Oregon but the deposit is depleted and gone.

So I found an interesting slab of a lavender plume agate this past spring. I had no idea what it was or where it was from. I posted it on Facebook and one of our members here, Kristi Overturf Stutt, directed me to Mel's post of Leather's Ranch Plume Agate. The slab I have looks like it could have came off the same rock!! Killer material. Here is the cab I cut

This is touted as the largest opal show in North America. I have been going to this show for many years now and will be attending Sunday. Hope to see some of you out there!!!!
