Back in the 80's the rage was Raytech's 99.9% pure cerium oxide. It was a light cream color. This polish WAS superior to the regular cerium oxide that was available at the time and was $35.00 per pound. I wish I had bought more since I ran out years ago. Currently I have some supposedly pure cerium that is pure white. It works fine I guess but the Raytech was so good you could get a mirror polish even on large faces of clear quartz crystals.

Bottom line: Pay the extra money to get the purer polish. It works better and faster and will save you time.

I would be interested to know from a chemist the actual color of 100% pure cerium oxide.

2nd to last looks like coprolite. The clear agate with orange looks sort of like Montana Agate but haven't seen it before with the orange.

Back about 10 years ago it was much easier to get top grade material for $20-$30 per pound. The best grades are solid and have both purples and reds. Purples and oranges are sometimes good also.

Here is one I sold a while back:

Anyone have an idea what this is? Just bought it on eBay. I'm thinking possibly Burro Creek or Purple Cow maybe. Seller doesn't know and he is from Washington state.
