Yukon Jade, we have this end table with a glass top, slightly patterned that resides at our pool.  It sits on a brick patio.  I take the pictures on the end table sometimes I leave it on the brick & then I move it over to the grass.  Every once in a while I will put it on a blue pool float.  I take pictures either early in the morning or early evening when the sun is not too high in the sky.

Here is a small slab of the material the unknown cabs came from.

Thanks Mark, it's not Fischer stone.  The slab those all came off of was gorgeous!  It was a sort of lavender color with some really nice crystals at the top of it.  Then it all all the really pretty goldish plumes in it.  I am going to see if I can get hold of the fella that I got the slab from & see if he remembers.

I've had a few of these for a while now & thought I would wrap one.  It's pretty small & I used sterling silver

Thank you all! It's still my favoritest thing to do. As much as I enjoy the wire wrapping & learning the smithing, it's still the slabbing & cabbing that gets me excited & relaxes me.

Thank you, Steve!  That is just what I needed to know.  I was thinking using a screw driver & hammer but wasn't too happy with that idea.  Then I thought that I could somehow scratch the lines I needed & the exacto will certainly fit the bill.  I will try that tonight.  I am even more certain now that I don't want to do the etching thing.  Too many cats, dogs, kids around to make it a safe thing to play with.  I think I am going to pass & go with some safer alternatives.

Thank you Debbie, I will keep that in mind.  Hadn't really planned on doing any etching but maybe that's not such a bad idea.  No jewelry supply near me so I will have to do some research & see what my options are.  Right now I need to deal with the immediate problem so I guess I will have to improvise.

Okay rocks2dust, I was kinda thinking along those lines but what is a graver & is it something I have on hand?  I have a Foredom so the question is do I have something to use in my Foredom that would qualify as a graver?
