Title: Need ID help...and a question
Post by: Bruce on January 13, 2016, 03:37:38 pm
I bought this piece of rough that was labeled Azurite and Malachite.  Is that a correct ID?  I don't know anything about the origin of the rough other than "Mexico" is written on it.

It looks a lot like some other rough that I bought that is Chrysocolla.  I'm assuming that the red coloring in the rough is Cuprite.  Could this be a combination of all of them (Azurite, Malachite, Chrysocolla, and Cuprite).  If it is...would that be what is called Sonora Sunrise (Cuprite Chrysocolla)?...and if so...at what amount of Cuprite content does regular Chrysocolla become Sonora Sunrise?

Thanks for the help!

sonora sunrise is a lighter green and red.  It also would not include malachite or gray material.
