Title: Killer Cab Contest Entries For April 2015
Post by: redrockrods on April 01, 2015, 02:34:19 pm
For new members not familiar with how these contests work:

Entries are cabochons only and must be completed during the contest period. No cabs pulled from a drawer please.

Try to include a picture of the original slab, preform and the finished cabochon so we can see what your vision for the finished stone was from start to finish.

Be sure to tell us about the stone, what you liked about it, how it worked up and anything else you experienced while creating your entry for this contest.

You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral.

Please note that intarsia, finished jewelry, carvings and composite type cabs can not be entered in this contest.

Join in and have some fun! This is a friendly competition between peers. Winners may or may not receive a prize for their efforts.

Cabs posted here are only for the contest.  One entry per member.

Here it is the 20th and no entries! C'mon folks!  Guess I will start it. Right off, I forgot to take a pic of this lavender jade from Turkey, but here is the sister slab. Nice stuff to work with. Thanks for looking!

More of my dad's 40 year old rock collection. This crazy lace gate slab was quite thin and it was a bit fragile at the bottom of the shape, so I ground a slight bit more off the bottom and rounded all the edges.

This is Raspberry Angle Wing Plume Agate I purchased on Ebay from the agatehunter.
It comes from a thin seam so the variety of shapes is limited.

I am also a newbie having just started cabbing seriously a few months ago and joined the forum about the same time. I submitted an entry this month and last and plan to try to do it each month. It's a fun challenge. I wish everyone would do it.

Wow!

Lots of great stuff! If I can do half as good when I get my equipment I will be happy.

They are all winners in my opinion.

Wow, it will be difficult to pick a favorite out of all these beautiful cabs! Such a variety of stones, all nicely done!
