I have begun a thursday therapeutic work session, at my sculptor-sister's studio. She is currently my biggest and most outspoken supporter, helping me become an artist ... not just a cab-cutter. She has sorta-commissioned this pendant, that I created yesterday. She plans to become a live advertising medium, amongst her art folks ... cool huh. She has a big showing of her sculpture in mid May, at Southwest Illinois College. She requested the parrotwing with, to be designed matching earrings. My father bought the parrotwing ... never cut any ... just slabbed it. Now there seems to be a sentimental attachment growing for this material.

I love the design of your wrap. Doubling up the overall length gives it a nice appeal.

Dave: Have you ever tried typing with a lovebird scurrying around on your head??? ...tough to see the keybosrd. (LOL)
I edge grooved the stone... not a deep groove ... just enough to seat the wire. I use 21 ga square non tarnish wire (till the S/S arrives next week). I twist two styles of square wire ... one style not too twisted for bold effect ... Tight twist for fine work. I attempted to wrap the twisted wire with more twisted wire ... NOT COOL ... wire too work hardened to wrap neatly... so ... I chose the 18 ga 1/2 round copper ... just for something a bit different, I normally wrap with matching type (color) wire...but gotta break from the norm sometimes. I had an extreme amount of extra wire above the cab, pinched off and held with a small hemostat. I showed it to Sis, and she though I was showing off the near complete piece ... she really liked the extra long length of the clasp area. She thought the extra length would show better on a deep plunge upper bodice. Soooooo she won out ... I will cut the earrings and she will wear it ...cool. My wife even liked it.
