For a change,  this one is ready to wear and ready for it now.

Started out as an idea of an oval, turned into something else and grew on me over time to be yet again given meaning to me, and named it again.

"Safe Tonight" I leave interpretation of that to you. But it was suggested by the person for whom I made the coral star, that it reminded her of "Mother and Child"in a very absytract way.

Here is the fantastic slab I got from Bob and 2 insets of progress along the way:

My favorite picture of the finished cab:

Again; every turn and background gives new reason to explore:

And ready to be worn. Over the weekend, I remembered having seen this pendant and I went back to the shop yesterday only to find out that it fits perfectly. At first, I was worried that running the chain behind the cab would make it tilt. But as it turns out, it barely affects the cab at all when hanging free.

So, thats it for a while. gotta concentrate on work for the next few weeks. Have to stage 3 different Christmas-plays in different schools aside of regular work.

Thanks for looking and be safe, Kurt

Thank you!

As seen in this (sorry rather quickly taken)  picture from left to right:

Cutting wheel used to get overall shape and dome.

(not in picture) Sanding stick and D-burrs (ball shape and similar shape to the second wheel in picture) plus sanding paper 230, 400 and 600 grid. Its a new paper combination that I have not used before and works very well on other materials too (I am redoing several cabs right now). I am quite wasteful with the sandingpaper; where Bobby uses a small square, I cut 4 x 2 inch patches, roll them up and on we go. This allows me to get all over large surfaces, yet easily turns into points and edges to get those pesky frills out of tight spaces.

After the sanding-paper I tried a blue paste (silicone based) that usually gives me a mat but smooth finish (I think its about 5K grid), and applied with the hard cotton wheels # 2 and 3). The triangle tip worked very well in the tight space between the small cab and the hugging arm. Usually I would follow this paste with 1500 and 2000 paper, but there was no need, so I went straight for 50K diamond paste. First hard cotton wheel (#2,3) and then the loose soft variety (#4) for large overall surfaces. Followed by soft thin leather #5 and finally  hard (#6) and soft (#7) bristles for the tight spaces.

I tried to do the same with an oxide that i have, but that gave some small areas on top of the cab a milky appearance. So I stopped and just finished up with 3000grid sand-paper.

Hope that helps, I'm sure there are better and faster ways, but thats how I got there.
