For those interested. George has pinned this thread for me the same as he did for Steve. So from now on, I'll just keep adding pieces here & change the date I posted them Thanks George. This might help those that are following our work or are looking for examples for insperation/instruction. Thanks again George for making this a responsive & ever improving forum. Kurt I think you too should talk to George about it. You make & post a lot of great work & we can see how you're progressing too. Mike

Mike Yeah, I have been talking to George about it after the obsidian post went death in a record 4 hours time. Now, I'm looking forward to it and plan to start it with a best of 2011 review by the end of the month.

Yes an interesting idea. My big problem is remembering just when I made a piece? Was it this year or last? LOL But I have been trying out newer more contemporary styles this year. Mike

I was thinking of a thread just dealing with the items that were posted on the Forum through 2011. All you need do is go through your posts for the year and probably cut and paste the original entry onto the new 'Year 2011' thread................ There is a regular bunch of us that routinely post either/and/or cabs, silversmithing, bead work,etc.............Maybe, if George approved of this idea he could create a specific category just for the annual review.......... So just a thread for forum members where we can share our personal best jewelry, cabochons, knives, intarsias, etc.. ?? Anything and everything.. ? Maybe when we talk about our best.. It would be one item from any given category ? So for those who are masters of all these mediums can share a piece from each.. Otherwise, for those of us who have made some jewelry, and also do cabs, can share one of each favorites.. ? Does something like that sound good ?

Hmmmm.....
Sounds like this could be really pic heavy !
Maybe will need to make sure eveyone uses their own Photobucket, FlickR or something else besides the forums photo hosting..
I foresee a potential flooding of pics if eveyone is going back through all their works through the year ..

That I can understand......using up server space........maybe using a photo service should be a requirement for posting somethimg like this..........I already use a photo service site (Photobucket) so what I've posted is only letters and numbers - not much space. Before embarking on something like this it is best to discuss the matter , especially with the Forum Manager. Mike........I want to apologize for kinda hijacking you thread.....didn't mean to, but, one thing lead to another........... .......I'll remove all my input on this matter here.

Ya know what...
I have to apologize..
Yes, of course for those of you that are comfortable with using outside photo hosting services, then sure thing.., keep doing that ..
Am gladly putting up the new category.. , and please don't pay any attention to that stupid remark about me worrying about it being pic heavy..
Let's do it, and have some fun with it !

Steve hey no problem buddy. It is a worthwhile idea. George I use photobucket so there's no problem with band width as far as my pix. Mike

Awesome bracelet Mike. I like the way you highlighted the stamping by sawing around them instead of just making it round. You can pound one of those out in a day? Wow, that would take me a week! lol

Mike after I texture the silver I have a really hard time getting the bezel soldered on, and it doesn't look all that great. How do you do that? There are gaps around the bezel.

Are you talking about texturing like I did on the Variscite pendant? That bezel didn't set perfectly either. You just try to get it close. & let the solder run around the base & if there's a little gap. Add some solder on the inside at that area & it usually fills in ok. Mike

OK Dave it's not easy geting a bexel to sit exacly on a domed or textured backing. I keep a pick handy to push the bezel down against the backing while soldering too. Then if the top is a bit uneven you can file/sand it exen. But that's also where a twisted wire surround cab help too.LOL Mike
