Hi All,

Can you tell I am trying to get a case ready for our local show?  Anyway, this will be the last one from me, at least for a few days.

My wife found this little slab at Quartzsite last year, but didn't get a positive ID on it.  She said she thinks the lady who sold her the slab said it was from China.  If anybody knows the definite type of material please post it.  My shop bench is a mess - glue bottles, Exacto knives, paper towels, and rock dust all over the place.  I guess that happens when you work with rocks.  The outer frame is from a piece of jasper I found on the Skokomish River in Western Washington.  The black is basanite.

The main stone seems to be some sort of opal (greenish part)  because I got it a little too hot and crazed the surface and had to re-work it.  The  red part is something really soft, but not opal.

Thanks for looking,
Garry

That is one F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C piece of work you've done there.  It does look like an abstract bamboo stand........WOW......Really................WOW......!!!!!!

the center is a variety of Cherry Creek Jasper. Not a true jasper, but it is from China.

I too really like the scene in the center. I am trying to imagine it with a more browner frame.

Sara, This will be for display only.  I think it's kind of the wrong shape to make a pendant out of.  It's about 2 inches tall also, which might be a little big for a pendant.

Thanks you everybody for your comments.  I enjoyed reading them, as usual.

The bigger the better for pendants in my opinion...
Larger stones make for a great tapestry on which to create an overall elegant design.

My favorite so far!  I am with Amanda on this one! Two inches is definitely NOT too big for a pendant & that would make a gorgeous one!
