I need to know who can make stone handle for this blade.
http://www.atlantacutlery.com/p-944-long-double-edge-dagger-blade.aspx

I can pay you in installments if you want because there is just no way with my budget I could pay all at once.  I know this is probably going to cost me over $100.  At least that's what I'm expecting...

I'm looking for some kind of masculine looking Jasper or agate.  I know my friend loves bloodstone and also loves the color black.

I'm going to supply the blade and I'm hoping I'll find some good slabs and can supply the stone as well.

Thanks.

I just purchased Pilbara Jasper for the handle from Ralph and Mary Ann online.  I saw it and fell in love with it and knew it would look gorgeous on the handles.  I bought two large slabs so there would be enough to work with.  The blade has also been purchased.

If I were more confident I would do it for you and you could finish off the stones (Ellensberg Blue(sp)) for a pair of earings.  But I am not so that ends that.

I have yet to do any scales Amanda..

How about a picture of the knife.. Let us see if the shape of the knife is pretty straight forward..

The one and only way I would even attempt a first time set of scales for someone else, is if they could be glued on..

The link to the knife George is in the first posting.   yes
I do see them being glued on.  Glued on is about the only way I think might work on this particular knife.

Wow.. That is a real nice knife Amanda !

I can see that if a person wanted to shape the scales to the shape of the knife handle, that it will take smaller wheels than I have. Those concave shaped areas I can not do on mine.

Hopefully someone will be able to help ya out with this..

Really a nice looking knife !

I'd help, but am already overloaded. I also won't buy slabs for the scales without them being in my hands. Fractures and scales don't get along.

That's what I always worry about.  I have put myself into a bind too many times..... headbang118
Your going to do a fine job.  I have seen your work.  Make sure you rough up both the knife surface
and the scale surface to give them something for the epoxy to grip to.

Mia,
As George would tell you I'm not a perfectionist. - in fact I'm hugely easy to please. This is a hand made item, so I do not expect perfection - in fact I expect the variations that come naturally with hand made items.  I'm still trying to figure out why most lapidarists seem so hard on themselves when it comes to their work.  I'm about effort.  If you put your best foot forward, then it will be your best work.  If your best work is a glass finish, then it's your best work.  If it's an orange peel finish and you put forth your best effort then that is plenty wonderful in my book.  Just ask George, I often take his "imperfect cabs" off him, and frankly I'm struggling on most to figure out why they are imperfect!  I'm an artist as well as everyone on this forum, and because of that I value the work of another artists hands, even if that other artist doesn't think their work is good enough, because I know what work went into the piece.

Did that make sense?  I'm tired after a 12 hour shift at work, not sure if I'm forming coherent thoughts.

Art In Stone

One of my favorites by a custom knife maker who wrote back after I was overly hard on myself over tiny issues I have with my works:

Perfection is humanly unobtainable.

There is always something of the maker in each piece, whether intentionally or not.

If a knife is made by a human, then it will be evident in the work... and the work will not be perfect.

It's like absolute zero,... a receding horizon.

You can always do better,... but you can never do your best... or obtain the absolute.

I call it art.
