I bought some this rough at the Tucson electric park show this year. This stuff has been marketed as a jasper by some people, but I think is more of a rhyolite. It also has been sold under other names. I started off with a little apprehension on this cab, because of the challenges of polishing rhyolite. I was really surprised  by the time that I got to the 14,000 diamond wheel,  it had a pretty good satin polish. I did have to change the outline of the preform along the way because of a invisible hairline crack. This stuff was pretty even in hardness, even in the dendrite area's.  I got a very good polish on it. I used a tin oxide vinegar paste on smooth leather for the final polish. Ajo.
