Wow. Sellers on Anazon want $400 and $500 for these books! I was shocked. It remeinds me of the classic dino bone book "Gem Bone", that I wanted real bad. I finally located a copy in good condition, but the seller wanted "$450" - and I just could not do it.

I hope you find copies Sara.

Everyone I have ordered from is out of stock. I was talking to Mt. Mist, Tom this morning and he does have the second one.
He said he had all the books for long time but then something happened two months ago and he is completely sold out now.
I said probably the price of silver and artists still want to design with the stone but cant afford silver prices.
Tom from Mt. Mist is going to join our forum too:)
Thank you Sweet Gregor:) When you feel like it. I thought you said you wanted to show me your rock etchings:)  hugs32
Thank you Daniel whom I still like but never see:) LOL

I got mine (but I only have one) for about $30 from gohastings.com but I see they don't list that particular book any longer.

Aww thanks:) I guess Mister Hunt sent lots of very talented carving artists on the road to success and he firmly believes in making your own carving tools.
So I really wanted a copy of his first book. I would like to meet the gentleman:)

he has two books that I know of. I have them. It was not my impression that it fits his philosophy to make the ins and outs of modern gem carving inaccessible to the average person.  I wonder if I should try to write him and see how he might feel about having his books turned into a pdf  either for him to easily (re) distribute or make a public. I could try. I think I could figure out how to scan to pdf if necessary.

I cant believe the prices on amazon.! Im going to selll my copies and buy a really high end dental lab handpience for carving. Anyone want to read them first???

Im kidding about selling them :)

 serious about writing the letterl

Sara,
Unfortunately I don't see those books but here is a site that had a message yesterday about some old lapidary books.

Thank all of you:)
I did manage to get the second book from Mt.Mist but I still want the first one.
August if you know how to get in touch with him then do it or see if he wants to start a blog:) LOL
Heck a few years ago I thought a blog was an exotic type of wood:)
In Mr. Hunt's second book he makes the observation that so many of beautiful gemstone carvings is lost because no one took a picture of it. I think that is valid point.

Nope I refuse to pay that much for a book. If it came down to it I will go and pay Mr. Hunt to marry me instead. LOL
Excuse me if there is a Mrs. Hunt and no offense was intended:)

Wrote to Mr Hunt last night and got a reply today. Seems he may be open to having me scan his book(s) to PDF that he might be interested in distributing through the GANA website. Needs a bit more correspondence to be sure how he feels about it. Ill let you all know. PEACE!
