Hello All,

I am going to be in the Jeffrey City and the Fontenelle area of Wyoming come the weekend of Memorial Day and the week after.  Does anyone know of any cool spots, in or around Jeffrey City.  I am going for some blue wood near Fontenelle with a group, but after will be heading north up to Jeffrey City and down to Rawlins and back to I-84 thru Wamsutter and maybe a little south of Green River and then back home to Idaho.

Any suggestions and or directions would be great, as this is my only fun week for rockhounding, my vacation for the year.

Thanks all in advance ....

Brad

George,

Thanks for the link, I was there in the early 70's with my folks and found apple green jade, and then about 5 years ago.  I am going to see if I can find some Black jade.  Neat little town.  It was up for sale a few years back.  Thanks again for the link.

Thanks Sara, I am looking for Black, mottled, and apple.  Anything is fine, if I find something that is a bonus, the fun part is getting out with nature.  I am also going to go look for some agate nodules that I found information on as well as try to find my first Blue Wood and Palm Wood.   On the way home I am going to go get some Turtilla.  Like I said, finding the rock or stone is a bonus, the gift is just being out in nature.

George,

Thanks for the link,

Did you check out all the other good rocks WY has?  You may find something else good, if you look.

here is one, that I looked up quickly.  I have not been there myself, but was talking tonight to someone who has and found many different pet woods, agates, etc.

Gregor,

Thanks, the blue wood is what the Tri-Federation Rock Clubs are going for along with some other side trips that are a surprise.  I want to find some palm wood as well.  Thanks for the link, I do appreciate it.
