I thought I would try to show off some of my plume cabs

Hopefully this will work as this is my first try posting pics.  Sorry about the low quality images I still am working on my light table.

Don you did great.  What kind of plume agates are they?  I love the variety of colors in the last one.

They are plume agate from Wendover Ut.  I am going to go out and get the rest of the red and white vein this year and hopefully track down the green white and red stuff ( I only have found 1 peice so far).

..well heck....i didn't realize that moss wasn't really considered plume....so i finished up this unknown plume today too =)
...my new 60 grit disc showed up and i got this domed in under 5 mins....scarily aggressive...1 hour total from preform to shine..anybody recognize the material?

George and Jon, really nice plume agates.

Yes it sure is a lot quicker with a new coarse wheel or pad.  I was getting bored because it was taking so long with my old wheels, but with the new ones, it is exciting again as i can now complete a cab in a single session rather than 2.

OK I'm jealous of the material and in awe of the craftsmanship.  Wonderful!

I really haven't cut that much Texas Plume, but every time i do, it sure often can come out like your piece John.  Marfa, maybe, but there were several other well known types from west Texas besides Marfa and Alpine, woodward. I would leave towards Texas Plume, but not 100% sure. Nice piece and plume for sure.

The main difference between Moss and Plume is an organized look, in most cases with the plume have a growth point, were the tree starts, and grows into the plume shape we all love. Moss is scatter everywere with no real definition. HOweer there are thick moss that can mimic a plume look, but without a growth point.

And then there are those wonderful pieces that are a combination of moss, plume, and what have you.  Seems like some stones just can't make up their minds.

Shain, nice stuff.

Been playing with the plumes again..

Pretty sure this came from Ralph and Mary Ann quite some time ago.. It seems to have what looks like a touch of Marcasite too.

I don't think this is a Regency... Pretty sure it is Graveyard Point.

Looks so much nice in person .. Has a beauty shine !  :)
