Those are some really nice slabs you got Dan. I had a few chunks that yielded several slabs, and i cabbed some of them, but my individual slabs where i have just one, i save them for my collection. Tiffany Stone can be very sensitive, at least certain types, and it tends to fracture or chip easily. So i keep most of my Tiffany in my slab collection.

You guys are probably going to hate me for this....but I just picked up a piece that weighs a good 5lbs or more at a local shop having a "Garage sale". It was marked $15, yeah, you read that right! So I had to snatch it up. I'll post pictures of it soon, it's beautiful. That was just one of the good grabs I made that day.

Back about 10 years ago it was much easier to get top grade material for $20-$30 per pound. The best grades are solid and have both purples and reds. Purples and oranges are sometimes good also. Here is one I sold a while back:

I bought a box of Amethyst slabs very cheap a few years ago, the guy didnt think it was good enough to cab so let it go. You guessed when I got a good look at it, it was purple Tiffany. How it had made it way to England remains a mystery. We treated it in the same way we do Derbyshire Blue John, boiled it for 20 min in Shellac, it then cabbed very well. Think is was maybe the most profitable lines I have ever had. Would love to get my hands on some of the rough on this thread.

That is so cool. I have also seen people well it as amethyst sage chalcedony. Sometimes it is hard to tell apart. I have some slabs i will be selling soon, not the great stuff, but pretty nice.
