It is Indonesian Petrified Palm.  I have used it a lot for knives....

Thanks for the IDs gentlemen. Some kind of palm wood/root is what I thought, but I knew someone here would give us the exact ID and source.

Yet another rock now added to our shopping list... .

Michael says its is Indonesian and that is probable but I have similar material from Texas and Louisiana. Indonesian has been producing some very fine material over the last decade or so.  I haven't seen a lot of palmwood from there but I have seen some.

Very nice cab.

Since this was posted, we've had a server problem which has affected quite a few of the photo attachments. Hopefully, it'll get resolved soon.
