The first ones that come to mind for me are Gem and Mineral, Jewelry Artist.

Went hunting this morning for magazines. Here are a few interesting ones listed in Amazon under "metalsmith".

Metalsmith
MJSA Journal
Art Jewelry
Ornament

Then there is the Jewelry Crafts

The Society of American Silversmiths has a magazine for those involved in jewelry manufacturing and supply

Got another to share?

There's also Rock 'n Gem, but I think that might be what you mean by Gem and Mineral?

I currently subscribe to the following magazines:

- Jewelry Artist / Lapidary Journal (highly recommend) - always tutorials, good articles, also sends out sporadic emails about market trends, shows etc.
- Art Jewelry - another great magazine with good silversmithing tutorials and plenty of great ideas - more silversmithing, Metal Clay oriented
- Rock & Gem - its OK, they do have some lapidary articles but not that many
- Colored Stone - they have some lapidary articles/pics, but seems to focus more on semi precious faceted stones, they do give send out informative email updates usually monthly about market trends etc wh ich is pretty informative.
- Ornament - A very interesting magazine but is geared towards very "gallery" oriented pieces.  It follows a lot of different crafts, jewellery is only a very small part.
- I have joined both SNAG association which produces Metalsmith and the MJSA Journal - but I haven't received anything yet other than email updates on their upcoming meeting.

I really look forward to getting them in the mail - a lot of great ideas and access to different suppliers that I may not of known of.  They keep me up to date on new tools etc as well.  I wish they still had two separate magazines for Jewellery Artist  / Lapidary Journal as there was more of a focus on lapidary then now but it's still a great magazine.

I get both the "Rock & Gem" and "Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist". They are both really good. I would like to find a good silversmithing magazine.

I looked at the metalsmith magazine on Amazon and it does sound interesting. I looked for it at Barnes & Noble and Borders book stores, but they showed nothing. I would like to see it before I take on a years subscription.

I've picked up Art Jewelry a couple of times, along with its two sister magazines that are more beading/wire focused. I've really enjoyed reading it.  Great articles, easy projects, and terrific pictures from spotlighted artists.

Rock & Gem is definitely more rock focused, and not necessarily lapidary rock.

I think I need to subscribe to Jewelry Artist, though...

I've subcribed to Lapidary Journal/Jewerly Artist for the last 30 years or so and even though they have shifted their focus from Lapidary to jewelry making (fewer lapidarys now and more jewely artists) I really enjoy the magazine.
Rock and Gem has mostly focused on minerals over the years though lately they are trying to get more lapidarys interested in their magazine. (see above).
Recently the forum Orchid Digest had a lengthy discussion on the magazine Metalsmith that went on and on and on and on (like most of their topics) but it reflected a majority opinion that the magazine  went far to much toward art (paper, clay, etc.) and had little or no metal work in their publication. Most of the members had discontinued their subscriptions as a result. Shortly after the discussions the magazine had an awakening and have made a major push back to metal even to the point of offering a free copy of their "new" design direction. Maybe in a few months they will be back to their mission statement of providing new and creative pieces in metal work. I have never subscribed to it, only browsing the magazine at a library or Barnes and Noble or such stores. I did get their free copy, though. They are headed in the right direction, but they have to change the mindset of their editors more before I would consider subscribing. It doesn't provide much in how-to projects.
Art Jewelry is too much into metal clay (play dough for jewelers in my opinion) for me to want it.
I've subscribed to Colored Stone but I wasnt thrilled about it plus it is rather expensive.

I think Metalsmith only comes out about 5 times a year so may be why you didn't find one right off Gary. I pick it up whenever I see it just to flip thru and can't say it always has much in it of interest to me so have only bought a copy a couple of times. I do remember the big discussions about it on Orchid and it has gotten noticibly better since then.

Colored Stone's subscription is a bit more expensive but it always has some awesome high end jewelry & stones, plus they send you a Tucson Show Guide every year right before show time. Which you can also purchase for about $20 yourself if you're not a subscriber.

Another interesting little freebie mag that I get in the mail occasionally is Bench Magazine. It generally has one or more in-depth articles that show you the detailed steps in making a piece of jewelry, often involving setting facet stone(s) too. I just went to look for a link to it and looks like they are going "green" and issues will be accessible online from now on. Super easy to subscribe, just go here: http://www.benchmagazine.com/   and a link to a sample here: http://www.benchmagazine.com/2009winter/BenchWinter2009H.pdf

Wonderful site, lots of info.

I don't subscribe to any magizines at this time - but do pick up used older copies of Lapidary Journal, Rock & Gem, along with a few others. It can be very interesting & informative. Alot different than the newer versions.
