I took Carol's advice and purchased "Lapidary Carving for Creative Jewelry". This really is a good book and one from which I certainly will learn a great deal!

Henry Hunt is the author of the book on carving. The other one that's not too bad is from a father son team that do really nice Montana cabs and carving. I met the son at Tucson. "The How To's of Cabbing and Carving Montana Agate and Calcedonys". Tom & Jim Harmon. They have a nice section on using tumblers (vibratory) to get the final polish on both agate cabs and carvings.

See their work and buy book at:  http://www.harmons.net/

cool. Ive got both the Henry Hunt books.   albeit a thousand miles from me at the moment.

how Tom got such small references....I have no idea. Tsk tsk.

as for the Montana book, on the list of things I cant afford right now.....dern.

When you are done reading it, I would love to know what the greatest lesson you found in there was....
