Package received Christopher, thanks - my Mother thought they were the bees knees (she's seen some of my botryoidal agate before - wasn't impressed with that) and said, "It's like NEON!" 

They arrived wet so I dropped 'em in a bowl of distilled water - is it necessary to keep them wet 'til worked or not?

There is no need to keep them in water other than to show the color. Fire agates are not like opal where there is a water content inside the rock to worry about. The reason they arrived moist is because I bagged them up as soon as I finished photographing them.
Enjoy your new rough!!! I will be looking forward to seeing what you cut.
